Pond Fountains FAQs
Are Fountains Good for Ponds?
The obvious benefit of pond fountains is their aesthetic appeal. We're all drawn to water, and the right pond fountain can really stand out. A less commonly recognized benefit is the aeration they provide, which helps oxygenate the water and reduce excessive algae growth. By starving the algae of the nutrients they need to thrive, you free up more space for the beneficial ecosystems you would like to see. By keeping the water moving, the pond aeration provided by many pond fountains helps remove bad smells, and decrease mosquito activity.
What size fountain do I need for my pond?
The size of your fountain should be dedicated to the size of the pond. For small ponds in backyards, ideally, you want the water to be circulated at least once an hour. For example, if you have a 300-gallon pond, you need a pump that can run 300 gallons per hour. However, our floating fountains are meant for large ponds of say 1/10 of an acre to five acres or more. By calculating the area of your pond, you can work out how much water you have and choose the right size for your floating fountains.
How much does a fountain for a pond cost?
The cost of floating pond fountains or pond fountains and aerators depends on a number of factors - the size of your pond and the amount of water you need to pump. The more powerful the pump, the more it's likely to cost. We sell budget pond fountains to very large, industrial ones.
Will a fountain keep my pond clear?
A pond fountain will help keep your water clear by providing aeration and continually circulating the water. This breaks up surface algae, preventing it from growing further. When your pond water becomes stagnant, carbon dioxide builds up, giving algae ideal conditions to flourish. With pond fountains, your water will be better oxygenated, helping it to stay clearer.
